In April of 2011, Jack Schwartz traveled to West China Hospital in Chengdu, China. he accompanied a team of doctors and nurses from SickKids, that have traveled with an organization called Children’s HeartLink to West China Hospital every year since 2006 to train the people that work there. Experiencing the culture and observing the sharing of knowledge and skills between the two teams was a life-changing experience for him. It was also life-changing for the sick children at West China and the doctors and nurses who care for them. This is the story of Growing Up at West China Hospital.
