Dafeena is a site-specific dance for camera film adapting the original work created by Natasha Bakht for the CanAsian International Dance Festival. Shot in an abandoned crystal quarry, this work, bridges the forms of bharata natyam and contemporary dance. It follows two guardian figures as they act out a mysterious yet still intimately familiar ancient ritual. This poetic and colorful film celebrates the spirit and the rhythm of nature as it calls attention to the passage of time through experimentation with light and refracted images. |
