Damir is a guy in his 30s with a foreign background but growing up in a small town in Sweden. He dreams of a better life, of feeling like a real Swede and of being respected, the good life. He moves to the big city of Stockholm hoping for all that. He changes his name to Jonas, gets himself a small apartment in the suburbs and takes on a job as a dishwasher in a posh restaurant. His life quickly turns into a daily routine where each day only consists of work and sleep. As time goes on, he gets promoted and becomes a waiter at the restaurant. One day a young girl enters the restaurant. Her name is Julia and Jonas falls in love.
