Noelle is born in dramatic circumstances early one Christmas morning. She grows up to realise, at age eight, that she has been given the gift of the Christmas Star - the gift to perform strange and powerful miracles… miracles of love. So when the historic Pottersglen Pottery (Noelle’s Dad and community’s main source of employment) is threatened by a conniving developer, McKerrod, the unconventional Noelle tries desperately on her own to thwart his plans to turn the beautiful Pottersglen, and the entire city of Belfast, into a tacky Christmas theme park. But as her community, city and beloved Dad, fall for McKerrod’s smooth lies, Noelle fears she is losing her miracle powers to bring about good, and she retreats from the fight, questioning herself and her purpose in life. Meanwhile, Noelle’s hotch-potch football team, The Snowballers, never stop believing in her, and get inspired to take up the cause. Even with their enthusiasm however, they falter, and that’s when Noelle summons the courage to join her friends and work with them to expose McKerrod’s true intentions. The feisty kids gather their proof and then, in a spectacular showdown at Belfast City Hall, the world watches as they reveal McKerrod’s real plans. Still feeling powerless, Noelle nevertheless rallies her family and friends to rise up and stop him, and comes to understand that her real gift is to help those she loves to help themselves. Noelle ends up touching the whole city and indeed the world, and her story illuminates the true meaning of Christmas - LOVE.
