In Day Residue, people living an authentic life in the rural Arizona town of Arivaca at the dawn of the 21st century, find themselves facing-down a military presence and Orwellian surveillance technology, as a nation’s growing geopolitical fear focuses its attention on the international border with Mexico. Day Residue is a term used to describe random yet meaningful events in our day that become the basis for our intricate night-time dreams. For this work, inspired video and media images provide ‘day residue’ for the filmmakers waking dream of present-moment life in Arivaca. Accompanying the film is a psycho-active electronic score by ambient musician Richard Bone, which provides a lavish sound-scape woven throughout this highly textured digital film experience. |
