For over 100 years ago, the famous Swedish poet named Dan Andersson, had to emigrate to Minnesota and was sent over there by his father and mother to seek a better life for the whole family. He left on his 14th birthday. To send a son was common in Sweden around this time period and this film draws parallels from a historic perspective to the current refugee situation in Sweden. We get to meet Faisal Safi whom also arrived alone in Sweden on his 14th birthday. We get to meet Aya Ayash, a 19 year old girl from Syria and also Jama Migil Hassan who came alone to Sweden from Somalia is a young boy. It all ties together with a positive spin on a heavy subject matter. |
