In a city still traumatized by a Civil War, migrant workers and travelers wait under the shadows of its empty bridges. For decades, abandoned buses and trains have rusted away in silence as their watchdogs howl at the sight of new passengers. Beirut is alive. It rebuilds and moves on ceaselessly, destroying all remnants of its fractured past. The sound of progress wails through the city and yet the silence under the bridge is more deafening. Through the stories of its local workers, “Beirut, Under the Bridge” explores the struggle to restore public transport in a post-war metropolis. |
