In the early 1960’s at the height of teen idol hysteria, 12-year old Ruthie’s crush is not on any ordinary heart throb- she has fallen for a notorious serial killer. Along with her motormouth best friend Marleen, Ruthie becomes pen pals with her death row beau. The film draws inspiration from the restrained works of directors such as Robert Bresson and Chantal Akerman and clashes it with technicolor fantasy sequences influenced by the classic American musical. |
