Great story backed by an elite cast who brought perfect emotion and feel to this piece. This should be one of Ridley Scott’s proudest works/achievements.
This movie was all the rage back in the day, when I was but a wee lad. All the older kids would talk about this movie for years to come.
Man, nostalgia. What a powerful story though.
This was Oliver Reed’s last movie, he died of a heart attack while working on this movie. He was actually not on the movie set but I believe he was at a bar when he has the heart attack. This movie is what brought Crowe fame for a few years and seems like he disappeared somewhere in the mid 2000’s.
Of course he was at a bar. I think he lived in one.
But he was a superstar till the very end.
I hadn’t seen this in a few years, but back when I had DVD players and owned many movies, I did own the full DVD set of this movie at one time, and this particular uploaded version of the movie has some scenes in it that weren’t on the DVD I had. Also, I can’t ignore the fact the the upbeat music that plays during the tense battle scenes is almost identical to the music from the Pirates of the Caribbean, lol. Thank you, uploaders.
Joaquin Phoenix is exceptional in this;the tortured, jealous, petty and evil character he does so well.
