Sam, 8-years-old, has a father who is a US soldier fighting during the war in Iraq. Before his father is deployed, he gives Sam a box of toy soldiers that was handed down to him from his father. Through the act of playing with the toy soldiers, Sam’s fantasy world parallels his father’s reality in the war and ultimately helps him to deal with the loss of his father. |
