There are 8 chapters addressing, in episodic style, various aspects of life. In “Go! Go! Gonzalez!” a mild mannered Geography teacher finds a golden ticket in his cereal, and is forced to make a choice between the adventure of a lifetime with the girl of his dreams, and staying at home to save his cat from the evil cat-sitter from Cullercoats. In “Sorensen’s Whip”, children try various ways to escape from the violent teacher, Mr Sorensen. In “Scranna Nannas”, a head teacher sends his dinner staff to see a psychiatrist, to prevent them asking for a pay rise, but the plan backfires. “Liam Leonard” documents the trials and tribulations of a young poet in a sporty school. “Case 315” is a gritty history of dissociative identity disorder in a violent offender. “The Caretaker’s Son” follows a day in the life of a group of privileged sixth form girls, as they plan the school’s award ceremony. “Primo Parmo” is a dark tale of murder and cannibalism in Middlesbrough. “Lonely Nurse” tracks the progress of a young health visitor as she makes her rounds. “It Is Written” is a dark tale about a writer who stops writing horror stories because he believes they will come true. “The Helpers” is about a group of girls who promise to help each other get whatever they want. |
