Badr, a young African-American Sufi, practices her morning prayers as her Baptist mother and brother hide Easter eggs and prepare to go to church. Monty, a care free skate boarder reluctantly joins his family for a Scottish Easter reunion. Badr’s father, Khaleel, is also practicing his morning prayers in prison when he is unexpectedly released to go home. As he approaches his home, and Badr, surprised, goes to greet him, he is brutally assassinated on his front porch by a masked man. As Monty’s family pulls in to a gas station to fill up, a couple of black gang members make fun of his father’s kilt, steal his money and lead him on a chase that leads to his death beneath a parking lot. Monty arrives too late. This short film is the set up for a feature film that will explore an interracial love affair with dramatic ethnic barriers. |
