Handsome cinema cowboy Roy returns from a stint on location to discover his town and its people strangely different. His girly girlfriend Lilly is now wearing pants, using cuss words and acting awfully butch. Roy suspects it’s the influence of all this feminist writing and new media, but he can’t be sure. Lilly pours Roy a whiskey and tells him she’s busy and to come back later. Disheartened, Roy downs his firewater and takes a powder. Wherever he goes in town, Roy seems to run into this female Mariachi band, singing pretty songs about lost homes and love’s doom. Even worse, Roy realizes he’s being shadowed by a sinister Asian man who gives him the creeps. Now Roy’s a man who’s fought indians, punched cattle and slung pistols in countless western features but today he feels strangely powerless. When did women get so vocal and aggressive? When did other men get so awkward and dainty? All Roy wanted to do was come home, take a bath and hop into the sack with his girl. Roy and the cinematic Western are in for a rude surprise. |
