Twelve native Alaskan students take the trip of a lifetime to Southern California, leaving their isolated homeland for the first time. The academic field trip began as a dream, and seemed impossible at first. Yet dreaming, and working hard to achieve their dreams, is exactly what the student’s teacher had in mind when she proposed the trip. With her constant encouragement, the students worked for three years to raise money, and pass the academic standards necessary to take the trip. In the process, the tiny village (population 40) learned that through hard work, and perseverance, big dreams do come true. |
