As a student, Yumi Takeshita was saved from a truck by a stranger, who badly injured his hand; frightened by the incident, she ran away, but was so guilt-ridden by what she did that years later she became a police officer. On her first patrol, she comes across a purse-snatcher victim, and a heavyset man running off. She enthusiastically flattens the man, but it turns out he was an innocent bystander trying to help - worse, it turns out he was the stranger who saved Yumi years ago! His name is Toru Ijidaichi, and he is a professional magician. Now the two get together to bring down criminals across the Tawogato district, as well as have lots of fun together!
