Details:

This film project aims to document a Canadian underground music scene called “Psychobilly”. Psychobilly is a combination of mainly two genres Punk Rock and Rockabilly, although other influences such as surf rock, country and metal can be noted as well. Wikipedia describes it in the following way, “Psychobilly is a genre of music generally described as a mix between late-1970s punk rock and 1950s American rockabilly. It is often characterized by lyrical references to horror and exploitation films, violence, lurid sexuality, and other topics generally considered taboo, though often presented in a comedic or tongue-in-cheek fashion. Psychobilly music is often played with an upright bass instead of the electric bass more common in modern rock music.” The psychobilly scene in Canada has many great, unique bands although one would never know this from listening to the radio. So this documentary will show who they are and what they do. In the process I hope the audience will learn about a very obscure subculture and discover Canadian bands they may not have otherwise heard of.
