Digital reworking of my 16mm film Ghost Dance, from 1980 — made for performance (by the filmmaker), using dual side-by-side projection. The original project was made from a single roll of 8mm, shot while descending Canyon de Chelly, AZ — accidentally cooked in the glove box, kept in its (un-slit) original 16mm gauge, and later re-worked cyclically on 16mm film via a JK Optical Printer. Dirt, scratches, cat hair, and splices were part of original film.With this new piece I set multiple layers of the original film in counterpoint and let relationships play out over time.
