The fishermen of three fishing villages around Karachi have one common asset and so a common challenge to safeguard it. The mangrove forests are natural treasure for the fishermen, which are being clear- cut by the vested interests. This struggle against deforestation is now turning into a battle of their survival. The timber mafia, land-grabbers and heartless urban corporations are wreaking havoc on their centuries old settlements by logging mangrove trees. Those indigenous people who tried to resist the devastation were also killed by the vested interests. Mystic are not restricted to the human world. Mangroves are spiritual trees which are in service of mankind. They are refuge to birds, marine forms of life and a natural guard against disasters. Fishermen call them their lifeline.
