Details:

The Arkansas Travelers minor league baseball team has called three fields ‘home’ since its inception, with Ray Winder Field holding the title the longest at 74 years. Many knew during its last years of operation that Ray Winder Field was not going to last forever, and without a serious renovation or a new ballpark, the Travelers’ future in minor league baseball would be uncertain. When 7 acres of riverfront property was donated to the Travelers and North Little Rock for a new ballpark, however, the future of the team in Arkansas looked a bit brighter. ‘From Ray Winder to Dickey-Stephens’ gives an inside look into the Travelers transition from their 74-year-old ballpark to a new, multi-million dollar stadium through interviews with former Travelers General Manager Bill Valentine, ‘The Last at Bat’ author Todd Traub and seven others. For some, the team’s journey from Ray Winder to Dickey-Stephens was long overdue. Others, however, struggled with the idea of leaving behind a stadium full of history and memories.
