An eight-year old girl has to write a story about her family for homework. In the process, she observes and rediscovers her nuclear family. Father, Mother, and Mother’s Girlfriend. Even though her mother’s relationship with the latter is not new, it is the first time the girl begins to grasp the idea that her mother’s partner is another woman, and that this sets her apart from other families. She loves her mother and her mother’s girlfriend as well. And although she understands her family is not the same as others, she does not want to be seen as different.
