The film is a fast-paced dry comedy dealing with the complexities of relationships in contemporary society, while retaining a simple moral- help the friends you love. A witty, dialogue-driven film- it shows the relationships which buoy the characters and the biting London humour which invigorates them. Assertive Sophie is six months pregnant with Jonathan’s baby which is concerning her young lover, Richard- causing him to turn away from her sexually. Meanwhile Jonathan is gay, suave and married to Conner who is worried about the strength of their union supporting said child. Strikingly stylised with high contrast lighting, the film’s comic issues are played out against a hyper-real landscape of contemporary London; a bus, bookshop, Savile Row suit-shop and crowded pub act as backdrops to the action. |
