Filmmaker RP Kahl embarks on an expedition together with actress Laura Tonke, his protagonist from ‘Sunday Girls’. Scene of their research is the brown coal mining area of Lusatia, South-East of Berlin. Kahl’s grandmother Elsbeth Maschke has lived there for nearly a century from 1905 to 1999. She experienced the diverging history of that place up close. Her memories from World War 2, that returned most violent to the Eastern German border in 1945, blend with her accounts of the time when her childhood home was dismantled in favour of an open brown coal pit and her home land was erased. |

ArizonaGreenTea : The sister is a good actress because I can't stand her and I'm guessing that's the point.
