This film is just so good.
Thank you. It is. From a mom’s point of view, a counselor’s point of view as well as the most important: a kid’s point of view. This film is tremendous.
The sequel comes out June 14th.
I know - can’t wait since that’s on our niece’s birthday!!
This is a film that teaches you that being sad is not always a bad thing and that being joyful isn’t always a good thing but if there done together and done in the right way that’s when we get true magic and that’s something that this film does brilliantly in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Precisely. All are necessary and part of our human condition. Catharsis cannot happen unless we emote and properly. This film is a good way to present these sophisticated ideas to those less sophisticated, but it also is good demonstration of a tight family unit that rides out unexpected changes with love & compassion. Together.
The film also presents those themes in a way that doesn’t make it’s audience feel dumb as it treats it’s audience with respect something which alot of films these days sadly do fail to do and it’s something that makes me cautious for the sequel as well as this is a film that really didn’t need a second film as this film is perfect as it is.
So true. The entire thing is very gentle and even loving with its presentation. Much respect to whomever not only had that writing approach, but also to whomever gave it the green light. They really wanted that to be delivered intact & effectively. Like you, I’m wary of any sequel. We prefer great One-Off work over franchises & this film could easily be cheapened by greed.
It might be a good sequel just based of off the trailers the signs aren’t all that good but happy to be proven wrong tho.
Right on. Would love to be wrong about most things. Fingers crossed on this one.
