I can’t wait to watch Bing in this movie!
This poignant movie was well done in my opinion. I like most of Bill Murray and Naomi Watts’ work and they didn’t disappiont. I empathathized with the characters Iris and Apollo because I’ve lived through losses like that. If you like a good tearjerker, watch it and give your own opinion.
I really liked this movie, tearjerker for me. I am a wimp when it comes to dogs. lol
This movie is poetry for animal lovers. Apollo is gorgeous and his expressions are beyond believable. This is a special film. <3
“Novelist and creative writing teacher Iris (Naomi Watts) finds her comfortable, solitary New York life thrown into disarray after her closest friend and mentor (Bill Murray) commits suicide and bequeaths his beloved Great Dane to her. The regal yet intractable beast, named Apollo, immediately creates problems for Iris, from furniture destruction to eviction notices, as well as more existential ones, his looming presence constantly reminding her of her friend’s choice to take his own life. Yet as Iris finds herself unexpectedly bonding to the animal, she begins to come to terms with her past, her lost friend, and her own creative inner life.”
Anyone who has loved an animal and made them family will relate to this movie. The story about Iris and Apolo was great. I did not like the way the story went from a dinner party to missed messages to death. I thought there should have been more of a backstory. Then the conversation at the end covered it all.
That was a nice movie. I was hoping for more Bill Murray but c’est la vie. Very relatable type movie about the inner workings of the day to day. While hitting on those existential notes that we all must go through. Noami is a joy to watch as always as she walks us through this. 7.5/10
