The flight of a rugby team crashes on a glacier in the Andes. The few passengers who survive the crash find themselves in one of the world’s toughest environments to survive.
This reminds me of the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 was the chartered flight of a Fairchild FH-227D from Montevideo, Uruguay, to Santiago, Chile, that crashed in the Andes mountains on October 13, 1972. Not sure if this is a movie about this plane crash or not and the decision they made to stay alive for 72 days.
It is, as was the original adaptaion https://www.primewire.tf/movie/235295-alive The 2 films vary a bit in how they portray the series of events that unfolded. Given that this was more authentic in that they used Spanish speaking actors and the movie is in Spanish, I’m a bit disappointed that we’re getting the dubbed version. That’s probably for the best though seeing as how the only subtitles offered here are for an episode of Supernatural (wtf).
An interesting side note - Actor Carlitos Páez plays his father, Carlos Páez Rodríguez, a surviving member of the rugby team on that flight. Also of note is that the uncredited narrator at the beginning of the Alive film was Rodriguez’s own father, Carlos Páez Vilaró.
We (my family) already have a subbed version, which I recommend above and beyond the dubbed. The dubbed version does not get the intonation of the actors’ at all, which is at least 80-90% of acting. We are watching it now. I hope the uplinkers offer both versions to those that do not speak Spanish. This is a superior version of this horrific event. EDIT: woops, it was added as I added our comment, however only the dubbed version. If anyone can add the subbed, I can direct them. Thanks to all. Enjoy.
I got excited to see this only to find out its the same movie I have already seen a number of time. How many ALive movies can you do about this one plane crash. I get that you can remake it over and over and bilk more poeple out of money. Next time lets make a version not about this plane crash…
“this plane crash” This story has been told several times. New modern days plane crashes and stories and so on would be cool. I can give writers several right of the top of my head. Plane crashes during nuclear war, in which not everyone see the mushroom cloud and people talk down to said person. Plane shot down and target is not dead. Plane crashes and cell phones do not work so they attempt to contact. Plane crashed and there is a serial killer on board. All of these on a snowy mountain.
This is based on an actual event. This is only the 3rd dramatization based on that event. The 1st was a low budget Mexican production that felt very exploitative. The 2nd was Alive, which was a slick Hollywood production that had narrative and casting decisions that, when compared to Society of the Snow, are questionable. That brings us to this telling, 30 years after the previous one. Everything about this movie feels more authentic and realistic. If you’re going to do a movie about a story that’s been told before, this is how you do it. This is a remarkable true story about survival. All those fictional storylines you proposed might well make some entertaining movies, but saying that this has no value because it isn’t some new action/adventure story is an irrelevent criticism. Maybe you should watch this before you dismiss it out of hand.
I have already seen the first 2. Which is why I have seen it several times. While they are good movies there are also several books about it to which I have read as well. Like I said I was excited to see it before I knew it was another telling of a 70s plane crash in the andies.
Twice isn’t several. I’ve already outlined how this differs from those 2 movies and why I think that makes it worth watching, but that choice is yours to make.
I have watched both movies, Alive a couple of times, I have read a few books about it, I have read a number of news article about it along with the wiki about it. I am so over it and a new retelling of it from another point is not going to shed a new light on to the movie for me. It might for someone who has never heards of this story that is now 50 years old. I get it, its a good version. I mean they did how many spiderman movies and once you seen them you really do not care to see it again even from another versions.
Actually, this latest is based on notes and diaries and recollections (from survivors). It’s a survivalist true story, not a kooky fantasy. If it doesn’t suit, they shouldn’t watch. It’s HISTORICAL, and it’s horrific, both of which deserve a voice..

Nice background information! Thanks so much!

I totally agree. Hopefully, someone either messages me/us, or they pick it up themselves. If I found it, it cannot be that difficult. Best wishes!

…a version not about this plane crash? And how would that go exactly?

Ah, but twice is more than once..so technically it IS “several”

There was a movie made called Alive with Ethan Hawke in the early 90’s it was also a good depiction of this tragic event https://www.primewire.tf/movie/235295-alive
Yes, it was, Rose. :)
That CRASH Scene…..WOAHH ! It was one of the best that I have ever seen , as far as planes are concerned. !
