Pump Don’t Dump begins with Maui resident Mike Moran’s struggle to prevent activity boat operators in Ma’alaea Harbor from dumping their sewage more than 3 miles offshore. The film then tells the story of the Maui county-funded pumping project that resulted from these efforts and the new state and federally-funded infrastructure and treatment systems that were installed in the harbor in 2013. Pump Don’t Dump was filmed and edited by two Maui students during Maui Huliau Foundation’s Huliau Independent Filmmakers program funded by the Maui County Office of Economic Development. |
