A video-poem incorporating imagery from the nighttime world of Grand Theft Auto V, as well as a soundtrack combining early radio broadcasts with original music and spoken word. Not dissimilar to Kiarostami’s contemporaneous 24 Frames, except with static shots pulled from a dynamic digital world, as opposed to a digital world built from static images. The randomized weather patterns and glitches combine with the old-time radio programs, sonically altered voiceover, and Meredith Monk-style vocalizations for an eerie effect. This is a continuation of Gas Stations at Night (Wild Radio 1) (2015), which similarly combined an original soundscape with found footage and more active, heavily processed imagery from the same game. |
