Karthik was unstoppable in the 90s . Though he was nearing 40 , here he plays both his roles wtih equal ease. On one side he is a country bumpkin and on the other he is a rich man’s only son but lonely and thirsting for affection. His flair for comedy is well known. He is likeable in both his roles . The bumpkin’s rich cousin Swati refuses to marry him as he is uncouth and uneducated. His mother Bharati tries to warn him about her evil brother but he refuses to listen and goes to the city ( Madras ) to try his luck. On a parallel note, the rich and Karthik while driving with his friends stops enroute for a swim. As luck would have it both their roles get reversed. He is dragged to Bharati’s house mistaken as the bumpkin . From here starts a silly slapstick comedy of errors. Heera, Swati are pretty eye candies. Manivannan , Vadivelu are good character actors who light up the screen with their silly tactics . Karthik gets to prance and dance wtih both the heroines among green locales . In the end , all misunderstandings get cleared. The bumpkin gets Heera - the city bred girl. The rich man gets the simple village girl Swati. An over all fun family fare . |
