The story revolves around a female healthcare worker, Raine Sabado (Precilla Villota). She’s selfless-which she believes is one of the virtues in being a healthcare worker-yet isolates her personal feelings to appease the people around her. Unbeknownst to a few, she carries the heaviest baggage from being at high-risk of the virus to struggling to make ends meet. Regardless, Raine empathizes with everyone during the pandemic; tired, worried, and uncertain of when it will all end. The difference with Raine is she doesn’t take these problems out to anybody as a way of assurance for the patients she looks out for-hence, this conflict clashes with her affectionate and sensitive mother (Cherrylyn David). Raine’s mother has trouble adapting in the world of social distance. She feels remote to both Raine and her son. Eventually, the family bond together becomes as stagnant as the environment Raine sees outside of their home. As heavy as it sounds, the mother tries to make up for these shortcomings and bears the coldness of the new world. While working, Raine’s colleague shared their sentiments regarding the COVID-19 situation. From the banter alone, the nurse friend challenges Raine’s emotional resilience as a frontliner with the question-may pag-asa pa bang mag-bago? The note sticks to Raine after meeting a COVID-19 survivor (Jun Nayra). He believes that the virus should not be a big deal even though he experienced it first hand. His misbelief is among Raine’s obstacles to overcome in the story-which is her brutal honesty about the reality the frontliners live in. He is a man, disillusioned by misinformation. Will Raine evade the way she would with her internal turmoil, or will she step in to enlighten a man out of his delusion? |
