An erotic foray into a dystopian future, Invictus takes the viewer into a world which has been ravaged by climate change, crushed by government oppression and drained of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. All that remains is the faintest hope for a better future - a hope largely (and literally) carried by scientist, Jane Darling (Delirious Hunter). Desperate to reach a rendezvous point predetermined by her former colleague Ava (Ava Mir-Ausziehen), Jane stumbles across Paul Young (Joeydotrawr), a journalist who escaped the government’s crackdown on the independent press and has been hiding out ever since. At first out of curiosity, then later as a convert to her cause, Paul joins Jane on her quest through a world filled with hatred and short on hope to reunite with the resistance and begin the process of fighting back against the forces which continue to tear the world apart. Will Jane reach the rendezvous point on time? Is there hope for humanity somewhere within the backpack she’s determined to keep away from her pursuers? Can society be rebuilt and restored? Invictus is an ambitious film. It is arousing, yes - but it arouses more than sexual desire; it also stirs thought and reflection. How far are we, really, from the post-Apocalyptic hell Jane treks across? Closer, perhaps, than we’d like to believe. |
