Details:

“Roma Caput Disco” is a documentary that draws inspiration from the book “ I Love The Nightlife” authored by Italian DJs Corrado Rizza and Marco Trani. The film takes an in-depth look into the beginnings of clubbing in Rome and the evolution of the role of disc jockey as a profession. Currently, in present day DJs have stepped out of the shadows and have reached maximum media visibility, catapulting some to the level of actual pop stars. From the end of the 60’s, after the opening of the mythical Piper Club, to the beginning of the 90’s, the city of Rome became the capital of amusement. In the 70’s legendary discos opened such as Much More and the infamous gay club, Easy Going. The 80’s were also the years of Roman favorites Histeria and Gilda, as well as many other amazing clubs. Additionally the documentary pays homage to the many famous Italian artists that started out their careers as DJs. Icons of today such as, Jovanotti, Fiorello, Renzo Arbore and Roberto D’Agostino, just to name a few. Through interviews, vintage shootings, and rare photos, a glamorous Rome is depicted with a nightlife comparable to cities such as New York, Paris and London. “Roma Caput Disco” explores the years when Rome was invaded by the stars living a second “Dolce Vita”.
