The film “Dayenu” is my Final Project in the Steve Tisch School of Film & Television, Tel Aviv University. The Script came from a real experience I had in a period of my life, when my parents and two sisters left the country and I stayed in Tel Aviv. I found myself living in Tel Aviv, the city that I love and where I grew up, but suddenly everything around me felt unfamiliar. It was a Strange feeling that i really wanted to try to express in my film. The name of the film is “Dayenu”, a phrase from a main Passover song, an important jewish Holiday. I wanted to tell Gabi’s story on the background of Passover, a holiday in which the family experience is very important and strong in the Jewish Tradition. Although there are familiar signs of Passover during the film, I tried to present them differently. I wanted Gabi to devote herself to this strange and unfamiliar feeling, along with her desperate attempts to feel connected in this passover evening. |
