In 2015, the Syrian boy Aylan appeared dead on Bodrum beach, Turkey. The image shocked and alerted the world to the refugee crisis. The film imagines what could have happened to this kid until the day he died, when the dinghy he was on board with his family, crossing to Greece, capsized in high seas. The story springs from a moment of magical realism when Aylan’s spirit emerges from his body and wanders back into the world of refugees and displaced war victims who hope to escape to a better life. |
