I thought the imdb rating of 5 was a little low. For me, this was an interesting movie about mental illness and being lost. Similar to the dual worlds of “Wander” or “Shutter Island”, with a focus on the down and out.

Despite the story’s merit, it suffers from imperfect execution. I thought the three acts or screenplay could have been in a different order. The scifi in act II pulls you out of the story a little, but it does have a point in the overall plot.

Also, the dialogue might have been more salient had it been spoken by different actors. I’ve liked Hayek and Wilson in other movies, but I thought both rolls would have been better served by seasoned dramatists. Just my slant. Many might find their portrayals gripping.

Overall, though, I did find some philosophical value in the story. It’s about a 3/5, somewhat engaging even with it’s flaws.

Definitely agree with having different actors. Genres: sci/fi? No idea how that fits, it was lost on me.

Very helpful review. Thank you.

Yo. WTF! This movie had me questioning my own sanity….. For a few moments! I did not know where this movie was heading. I knew that in general the two realities posited here could not coexist,(one had to be real and the other only exist in their minds), but I was not sure WHICH ONE WAS REAL. I liked this movie. It was weirdly entertaining and it had a heart felt ending that left me feeling teary-eyed. I give it 3.5/5⭐

I liked it! 3/5

Are these files small enough?

MixueW 1 points 4 years ago. 3/5 stars.

Very odd. And a tad too long. 2/5

Slimwhiteman -13 points 4 years ago.

Strange, but not too bad. Would have been better with a woman who speaks English. 7/10.

Steens 10 points 4 years ago.

She does speak English, she just has an accent.

Slimwhiteman -3 points 4 years ago.

That accent needs some English.

Salma Hayek speaks English fluently.

If you’re American, then it’s probable that your accent would render your spoken words less comprehensible to a native of Ireland, NI, Scotland, Wales, England, Australia, or NZ; would that justify their saying that you can’t speak English?

A lot of folks around here speak strict Mericun with ESL. There’s so much of it that sometimes I wish we had subtitles IRL.

Alien 1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I don’t understand that accent either.

Slimwhiteman -4 points 4 years ago.

Salma had like 4-5 lines that i played back a few times, and i still have no idea what she said. Some people like to blame that on an accent lol. The Bronx is an accent i can understand people there. It’s not accent, it is inability to properly speak a language. I certainly have no problem with people who struggle with a language, but when you have a story/ script written in a certain language…you need the ability to convey the story to the audience in the language that it was written. I wouldn’t ask anyone from the deep south of the US to speak English either.

Her character tossed a few Spanish words in occasionally. May be what sounded garbled.
