Living in denial, the depressed, pill-popping child psychologist, Anna Fox, has holed herself up in her eerily vacant, ill-lit Manhattan brownstone apartment for the past ten long months, separated from her husband and their eight-year-old daughter. While unsuccessfully grappling with agoraphobia and intense panic attacks, suddenly, the Russells move in across the street, and brimming with curiosity, Anna decides to distract attention away from her problems by peeking into the lives of the unsuspecting new tenants. Then, one night, tensions flare, a deadly kitchen knife gleams in the dim light, and before long, someone ends up dead. Has troubled Anna, indeed, witnessed a gruesome scene of blood-stained domestic violence or is her wine-addled mind playing cruel tricks on her? |

Wow, Ive been waiting few years for this, but it was worth it. I had low expectations after seeing the mixed reviews, but this was such a treat! I had such a blast. The atmosphere, the cinematography, the story, the cast, the twists, the pace and the climax!!! Not a single dull moment. I dont remember since when i havent seen such a good Hitchcockian thriller. Its one of my absolute favorite thrillers filmed last decade other than Gone Girl (2014) and The Invisible Guest (2016).
Do watch ‘I See You’ movie. It’s a suspense/thriller with lots of twists in it.
Thank you for mentioning it. Sure i did. It was my second favorite thriller of 2019 next to Bumperkleef (2019). I enjoyed Fractured (2019) as well. Here few more that i liked and i can recommend, but it will be hit and mess depending on the taste- Marionette (2020), The Vanished (2020), Tone-Deaf (2019), Every Time I Die (2019), The Lodge (2019)… Now after i finally saw
The Woman in the Window (2021) my most interesting looking upcoming movie is The Night House (2020).
Hey thanks for all these recommendations, will def check them out! I also found The Night House trailer interesting :)
Thanks for the recommendations! Fractured was great imo. Now, i’m off to watch Bumperkleef… it reminds me of Unhinged (2020)then The Vanished :-)
Very good. I love Amy Adams. This movie keeps you guessing to the very end.
Bit slow… but thats the typical agoraphobe kind movie. Only watched for the actors… Wish Gary had more time. comments made it seem as tho he was a big character in the movie. Worth a one time watch for sure.

Release Date: October 4
Amy Adams creates a quite likeable although cooky character and then we follow her around this big old new york city brownstone as she tries to figure out what is going on with the neighbors by spying out her windows, this film manages to be tragic and amusing at the same time which allows the viewer a somewhat perverse enjoyment. 5/5
I liked it. It had great twists. Amy McAdam did a great job. I would have preferred to see more of Oldman, because I’m a huge fan of his since the mid 80s’. 4/5
I’m only aware of this because of Oldman too but knew he wouldn’t be in it much, having read the book. This is an Amy Adams showcase and I think she delivered in spades. I enjoyed this, wasn’t slow to me at all. For Hitchcock fans, this is not a remake of Rear Window but an adaptation of a terrific novel that was an homage to Hitch and the film.
Oh man thank you up loaders. I’ve been manic for days no sleep and I finally can watch the new Gary Oldman movie. Yeah!
I liked it, but just one thing that drives me crazy and makes the whole thing overly-contrived: while she has curtains anywhere and shutters to boot, the object of her obsessive watching happens to have none at all and ALL windows completely exposed to full view. It may have worked for “Rear window”‘s time period, but not for today.
Rant over. Otherwise, thumbs up.
this was not a great movie but i also don’t see how people can call it slow. we are watching a person in the middle of their mental breakdown. the opposite of boring. i appreciated the visual cues of her unraveling, particularly the scene where we learn more about her prior history, i thought that was beautifully done. amy adams did a fine job in this. i also appreciated how the climax played out and especially liked the touch of her at the end lying there with her hand extended. put me in mind of the 10 of swords tarot card and if you are familiar with the tarot and watch that scene you will know what i’m talking about. it was a nice touch and allowed the very end to make sense imo. i would say a solid 3/5.
Yes, reminds of Hitchcocks Rear window, love this kind of movies
As other user states, pretty oddly paced movie and at times really cringy. disappointed, expected more.
the ending climax and cinematography was really nice but the beginning lacked for me.
overall 3/5
Pretty good, but very predictable..
Good watch none the less.
Looking forward to this one.
I’ll watch it for Oldman, but how many different versions of The Rear Window do we really need?

👍
IMO, i found it rather slow until the last few minutes the twist was a complete thrill ride and suspense, almost worth the first few minutes and hour of watching. one time watch for me!
Any news on when this will be released?
This movie releases on May 15, 2020

From Wikipedia
The Woman in the Window is an upcoming American psychological thriller film directed by Joe Wright, from a screenplay adapted by Tracy Letts, based on the 2018 novel of the same name by pseudonymous author A. J. Finn. The film stars Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Fred Hechinger, Wyatt Russell, Brian Tyree Henry, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Julianne Moore.
The film was originally scheduled to be released in the United States on May 15, 2020, by 20th Century Studios, but was delayed indefinitely due to the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic with the intention of rescheduling the film for a later 2020 date.
oh ya this is going to be good. I’m a big Oldman fan
Overall a pretty clunky script for an A+ Cast but that seems to be the norm nowadays. Psychological crime suspense is a tough genre not to rely too heavily on established tropes that can border on being dishonest for the sake of a “twist” (is the main character crazy, being manipulated to look crazy or a combination of both?) the Director did a fair job however with the Hitchcock-esque foreshadowing and texture to smooth things over. The Garden claw through the cheek at the end was worth the price of admission! 👍
Many might compare this to “Rear Window” but there is at least one glaring difference. She’s not waiting for a broken leg to heal.
By the way i do wanna mention that i find this movie and Shut In (2016) having some similarities, so maybe check that one, if you enjoyed this one.
i thought shut in was a bit better.
I can’t believe Oldman is in this potboiler.
Apparently, or so I’ve heard, everyone has to eat.
this is so very true.
the new release date is May 14, 2021
maybe just my mood today but this didn’t really keep my interest. i just didn’t really care. Perhaps I’ve seen too many ‘seen across the way’ type flicks to give a fair chance, or perhaps for some of us it doesn’t reach the mark.
Nope. May 14th
Waited over a year for this and what a disappointment. I figured out what was going on, but didn’t like the twist and who it ended up being.
