“RESIDUE” is the compelling journey of three families that live in and around the DMV area. Even though the combined cities are considered to be some of the most educated and prosperous urban areas in the United States, the families have been struggling on a regular basis just to make sense of the normalcy of their day to day routines. According to Webster’s dictionary, RESIDUE is something that remains after a part is separated, designated, or after the completion of a process. This same process speaks to the face of old and current challenges that plague our communities across the United States. People are no longer so sure if they will be able to cope with the aftermath of police brutality on any level. Some policemen have to choose between their life, honesty, job, self-respect and the backlash that accompanies any of their decisions. This movie production is a hard-hitting docudrama highlighting stories of strength, spirituality, injustice and self-respect. It also speaks to the variety of movements that our cities have been absorbed with which has highlighted our broken justice system. |
