I did not get the impression that they were lovebirds. The only part of this movie I thoroughly enjoyed watching was when they were not discussing their relationship and the ridiculousness of the events that followed. I just did not feel the chemistry between these two that would make it believable that they were a couple.
Yes you are right and we have seen this same story over and over again.
A couple stumbles into a murder and bad cop scenario, they get chased by the police and the bad guys.
