A portrait of a day a woman spends with her young son while watching an abandoned hotel on the verge of demolition. It takes place during the dog days of summer, in the 13th year, when the cicadas are everywhere. A meditation on the line between isolation and solitude. Nature is both comfort and decay. Motherhood as both presence and erasure. The film is an experience of the heightened relation one has to the world while looking after a small child; the slowing of time and the moments that reveals. It is a narrative and a portrait and an autobiography. It is a horror story, where nothing horrible happens. |
