The little village of Golling, near Salzbourg, is frequently visited by tourists because of its beautiful situation among high mountains, and the little church of St. Nicholas, built on a rock, is also a curiosity of the country. The beautiful falls of the Schwarzbach have rendered Golling well-known to the excursionists. The Schwarzbach falls from a height of over two hundred feet, making a powerful rapids, which have formed a natural bridge by wearing their way thorough a solid wall of rock. When the sun shines through the branches of the pines and meets the mist arising from the falls, we see light effects of rare beauty. |
