The true story of the famous Boston College point shaving scandal. The center is a 6 ft. 8 in. white basketball player named Rick Kuhn, who has hopes of playing in the NBA. He is benched in his final year. Kuhn is angry and hurt and has no respect for the game because of this let down. He gets involved with childhood friend Tony Perla, a Pittsburgh bar owner and sports gambler. Tony is approached by some New York mafia guys from the Luchesse crime family, one of new York biggest and baddest crime family. They want him to use his friendship with rick to get inside information on the games. Tony tells rick, who agrees to go along with the plot. He then enlist other B C players like Jim Sweeny, and Ernie Cobb. The plot leads to point shaving and when good fellas famous mobster Henry Hill gets arrested by the Federal agents in New York. He tells US Attorney from the strike force Edward McDonald the BC basketball scam. McDonald who is a BC alumnus takes Hills confession very seriously and puts an all out press, with federal agents on the B C basketball players. They all go down and Rick gets hard time.
