The martial arts expert, John P. Milton, teaches the viewer the ancient Chinese practice of qi gong, which is composed of exercises designed to promote a long and healthy life. One of the unique aspects of qi gong, Milton says, is that its exercises are meant to be performed in nature. And so he and two students demonstrate qi gong outside in the mountains of southern Arizona. “The main thing is to stay relaxed,” he says. “Stay very present and just enjoy.” Milton begins with Taoist Principles of Posture. He continues with Smiling Energy, Five Standing Meditation Postures (The Posture of the Tao, Grounding and Rooting, Releasing All Your Blockages, Centering and Accumulating Your Qi, and Balancing and Integrating Your Qi), The Cranes, The Four Bears and The Turtle of Long Life. |
