Details:

The short documentary film ‘Nice: A Place to Start’ follows a group of college students on a volunteer medical trip to Haiti, a country still scarred by the devastation of the 2010 earthquake. The students and faculty explore the effectiveness of humanitarian aid, and discuss the negative effects that can often be associated with foreign assistance. Throughout their journey learning about the background, culture, and people of Haiti, the students and staff discover that perhaps there are some simple answers to such overwhelmingly complicated problems. A moving, emotional, yet balanced story, ‘Nice: A Place to Start’ will cause viewers to question their moral and intellectual ideals, and provide insight into an often-stereotyped country that is astoundingly colorful, welcoming, kind, and surprising.
