Set in 1912 in the home of the Illustrious Birling family, during an evening of celebrations toasting the engagement of Sheila Birling (Leona Clarke) to Mr Gerald Croft (Jason Farries) the Birling family are visited by an Inspector who calls himself Inspector Goole (Martin Nadin). The inspector interrupts their evening to inform the family that a young woman called Eva Smith (Emily Stanley) has been submitted to the infirmary after committing suicide, the inspectors investigations aim to discover the events leading up to this young woman’s death, one by one he interrogates the family to piece together the truth of Eva Smith’s unfortunate life.
