Theatre Bizarre is the brainchild of John Dunivant, a Detroit-area artist and visionary. Occupying nearly a block of residential lots just south of the Michigan State Fairgrounds, the semi-permanent amusement park has operated without permits or insurance for nearly a decade. An army of volunteers builds and maintains the Dustbowl-era-traveling-carnival-inspired grounds for an annual night of revelry billed as The Greatest Masquerade on Earth. As the future of Theatre Bizarre looms, this film will help to bring international attention to the event, and possibly aid in the continuation of “The Greatest Masquerade on Earth” on it’s original grounds. |
