Observational documentary follows Coach Amgad Khazbak and his Bluegrass Fencers’ Club in Lexington, Kentucky, for a year. The international fencing world recognizes Khazbak as an expert in teaching foil fencing and he once coached the Egyptian national team. He now lives in Kentucky where he trains young fencers. One of his students is the leading contender to make the U.S. women’s foil Olympic team; he hopes to be that team’s coach in the Olympics; meanwhile, he also must devote his attention to a range of students. Some compete at the highest national and international levels, others struggle to master the basics. |
