This is the story of two young women impacted by industry and contamination on First Nations land. They struggle for hope, humour, and courage as they are caught in a system where they and the land with which they share a deep relationship are abused and ignored. Aamjiwnaang First Nation, bordering Sarnia Ontario, has been named the most polluted place in North America by National Geographic. The two sisters who tell their story live under constant security and video surveillance, light pollution, noise, and smoke, there is no peace. This is modern day colonialism, environmental racism, and ecocide explained with clarity and a sense of love and deep desire for life. |
