Arctic Spleen is a personal, intimate, social and psychological journey inside the Greenlandic youth world where nature, violence, boredom and a strong cultural legacy have been claiming the highest and saddest toll. That of hundreds of young lives. Here our conception of life and death rocks, priorities are inverted, elements shuffled. Here two percent of the young population commits suicide every year. Suicide here is different from everywhere else in the world. It does not relate to a single person but it is embedded in the society, in its blood. Kids grow up and metabolize it just like they learn how to speak. Instinctively like breathing, irrationally. |
