Filmed with an 8mm camera and little digital camera in United-States, Canada, Belgium and France, Roufs s first short hybrid experimental film represents an in-between situation resulting from a forced exile.Inspired by Jonas Mekas film journals, Trace(s) represents the otherness, like a memory does. Places, moments and people captured in the present of filming send back to souvenirs which still create strong emotions in the author s body and mind. In this metaphorical space of mourning, the author allows her self to encounter her family, her friends and her past self. It is largely hoped that it will interest a few strangers in search of their own identity or that simply share the author s passion for poetic images. |
