The film is based on personal interview’s with Mrs. Opdyke. It is a memory piece told through the eyes of her husband William Opdyke and dialogue is taken from his actual memoirs. It begins in the present and takes us through Irene Gut Opdyke’s life from her early childhood in pre-war Poland through her mid-twenties in Germany at the end of World War II. It follows Irene’s heroic actions hiding food, warning of attacks, and her remarkable actions hiding 12 Jewish people in he home of a Nazi officer. |
