My short experimental film XYZ tells the small story of a small ship that has run aground and the sailor who seems torn about to what to do next. The film riffs on tropes from Greek mythology thru post humanism as it ask some essential if comic questions about the future of the human. The title XYZ refers to the Cartesian coordinate system of X, y and z axes, while also offering us an equation, X times Y times Z, in which the values X Y and Z are unknown. XYZ references Rodney Graham and Jacques Tati, among others as it asks the viewer solve this strange equation. |
